WOODWARD
THE WOODWARD ROADSTER, NAMED AFTER FAMED WOODWARD BLVD IN DETROIT. IT STARTED OUT AS A JUNK BODY MY BUDDY (OWNER OF HOP UP MAGAZINE) AND I PICKED UP IN THE BACK OF MY UNIBODY PU. OVER THE YEARS THERE WERE SO MANY DRAWINGS, DOODLES AND IDEAS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BUT ONCE WORK BEGAN IT BECAME SOMETHING MORE. FROM THE START, COMPETING FOR AMBR WAS THE GOAL.
THE INSPIRATION IS A PRE-WAR / PRE-DEUCE SPEEDSTER CONCEPT CAR, A WHAT IF. SIMPLE YET SOPHISTICATED. UP FRONT A MIXTURE OF 38 FORD STANDARD AND 36 FORD DESIGN, OUT BACK REPURPOSED FORDSON TRACTOR STUFF AND A COLUMBIA REAR END. UNDER THE HOOD IT APPEARS OEM BUT IS DUEL CARBED AND INSIDE TAKES ITS IDEAS FROM ZEPHYR CONCEPTS CARS AND MARCEL BREUER FURNITURE DESIGN... ALL BLACK AS HENRY INTENDED!
WHEN WE SHOWED THE CAR AT AMBR PEOPLE DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO THINK, THEY SEEMED TO DIG IT BUT DIDNT UNDERSTAND IT. HALL OF FAMER AND JUDGE, TROY LADD COMMENTED ON THE CAR, "IT BELONGS IN THE SMITHSONIAN, NOT AT A CAR SHOW" , IT DIDNT WIN BUT I TOOK THAT TO BE A COMPLIMENT.
